In the heart of Ohio, two friends with restaurant experience and a love for bringing people together with memorable food and beverage began a partnership. They dreamed of an upscale bistro with affordable American fare. Neighbors and friends would find a table they could call their own and always feel welcome.
Chef Todd Uhlir and Jeffrey Finklestein brought their dream to life in their hometown of Troy, Ohio with Basil’s on Market. The name was inspired by the idea of fresh, local ingredients and the restaurant’s Market Street location.
Two years after opening in Troy, Todd and Jeff opened a second location in downtown Dayton, nestled on the banks of the Miami River. Patio guests of Basil’s in Dayton can watch the mighty Miami roll by while they enjoy the breeze and a relaxing meal.
In 2018, the duo opened their third Basil’s On Market in Mason, a suburb in Greater Cincinnati. The light, airy main dining space is balanced with cozy dining rooms, a generous private dining space and outdoor dining overlooking a lush water feature.
Jeff and Todd’s passion has created a winning combination. Each Basil’s location is devoted to the same vision: provide a place where friends and family can spend time together and enjoy creative comfort food favorites made with local ingredients.
