From an early age Chef and Co-owner Todd Uhlir has always loved cooking, and like many great chefs before him, chef Todd learned his initial craft helping his mother make his now famous Rosie's Meatballs (they were just meatballs back then).
This love for cooking never died down and after a couple of part time jobs Chef Todd decided to enroll in culinary school. From there Todd earned his apprenticeship at Quail Hollow Resort before moving onto his first professional position at the popular 1990s chain Chi-Chi’s. After a short stint there, Todd moved onto bigger and better things working at Troy Country Club. This is where the original concept for Basil's on Market was started.
Chef Todd's rise through the culinary profession has led him to work with every type of cuisine, from casual bar food to five-star level food, an experience which inspired the diverse menu at Basil's. Creating everything from home town classics like Rosie's Meatballs, Cajun Shrimp Tacos and the J.F Burger, to ample fine dining choices like Shrimp & Chicken Rockefeller and Basil's Barrel Aged Honey-Whisky Salmon.
'In my years of cooking I've seen all different styles from bar food to five-star cuisine. I realized great fun food is what I wanted to do. Give people great food at a reasonable price and keep it fresh'.
